Key 3


The Regional Venturing leadership team is led by the Key 3. The Key 3 is a triumvirate encompassing youth and adults, professional and volunteer Scouters. Together they guide, direct, and support Venturing in the Central Region through a variety of methods. The youth Venturing President serves additionally on the National Venturing Cabinet and is one of the national officers for Venturing. All work closely with the National Venturing Division

Tim StanfillTimothy A. Stanfill, from Simon Kenton Council, has been selected as the Central Region Boatswain for 2008-09.  Tim successfully served as Area 4 Boatswain in 2007-08.  He also previously served as Council Boatswain and Boatswain of Ships 428 and 468.  He completed SEAL training in 2007, VLSC in 2006, Kodiak in 2006, and Kodiak X in 2008.  Tim is an Able Sea Scout.  He has been awarded the Venturing Leadership Award, William T. Hornaday Conservation Badge, and the Eagle rank with 4 Silver Palms.  Tim served as Senior Patrol Leader for his contingent troop at the 2005 National Jamboree and 2007 World Jamboree.  Tim will be attending Ohio State University this fall




Dr. G.H. McNeal, MN, PhD/ “Mac”

The Central Region is pleased to announce that Dr. GH McNeal, but you can just call him "Mac", from Old Watertown in East Moline, Illinois has been selected to serve as the Central Region Sea Scout Commodore.

Mac will serve the region well as he has been involved in Sea Scouting since a youth in the late 50's and early 60's to being a Skipper since 1996 with Sea Scout Ship Henry. During this time Mac mentored 3 quartermasters. Mac not only has served as a Skipper but as Council Commodore, Task Force 7 Commodore, Regional Vice Commodore for Training, and most recently as Area 3 Commodore . Mac served on staff for two Central Region Seabadge courses.

Mac has received the William H. Spurgeon Award, Silver Beaver, Scouters Key, District Award of Merit, and Distinguished Commissioner Service Award.  He has previously served as Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Organizational Rep, District Venturing Commissioner, and District Commissioner. Mac has also attended each National Jamboree since 1997.

Mac and his committee will be announcing their plans shortly for training, programs, and membership initiatives to support Sea Scouting in Central Region. Mac ’s contact information is:commodore@crventuring.org


Mr. Joseph Vollmer

The Regional Venturing Staff Advisor is Mr. Joseph Vollmer. Joseph Serves as the associate regional director of program for the central region. Joseph has previously served as a Scout Executive prior to his promotion to join the national executive staff. Joseph works actively with the National Camp School, Powder Horn, and Wood Badge programs.
