United States Coast Guard Auxiliary


Established by Congress in 1939, the 28,000 members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary conduct vessel safety checks, harbor patrols, safe boating courses, search and rescue, and marine environmental protection. These are just some of the services provided by the Auxiliary. Each year, Auxiliarists volunteer more than two million hours benefiting boaters and their families. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is also a good partner with the Sea Scouts. Auxiliarists teach safe boating and seamanship classes to Sea Scouts, serves as officers in Sea Scout ships, and assist with Safety at Sea events.
